The hard choices women leaders took to overcome challenges in Myanmar for their companies

Myanmar’s recovery from the social and economic disaster during the COVID-19 pandemic and the aftermath effects reminded business leaders about their abilities to reach beyond limits at times of uncertainty. As a result, businesses that managed to survive to date have tried their best to be well-prepared for anticipated future obstacles. 

Women founders and leaders from a diverse range of businesses delved into a wide-ranging discussion, “Myanmar Women in Business: overcoming challenges for success,” panel which talked abouthow they survived, adapted and applied themselves to meeting their business goals.

On one hectic evening in May 2020 in Pindaya town, Shan State, Thida was trying to meet a pressing deadline – to truck a batch of Plan Bee natural honey bottles by the next morning. That afternoon, she noted that there was only one vehicle left to transport her honey bottles to Yangon.
